Hey, I'm Sheldon, a graphic designer proudly based on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. My creative journey took a few twists and turns before I found my passion for visual communication design.
Armed with a strong foundation in design, I've developed a sharp eye for design and honed my creative skills. It's been quite the journey, and now I’m ready to put my design expertise to work.
Here's a fun little fact: I've always been drawn to creativity, and you could say I've had 'the eye' for design since day one. While my schoolmates were busy with sports, I spent my lunch breaks in the art room, creating masterpieces (well, at least in my eyes). I even won a pre-school trophy for a cute painting of my mum and me.
High school only fueled my love for the visual arts, and I continued into my final year, relishing every moment in the art class. But life has a way of surprising us. After initially pursuing a career in primary education, I found myself in a different role, cleaning up after art classes rather than creating in them. I loved it, but I felt a creative calling I couldn't ignore.
So, I took a leap into the world of design, and it felt like I'd found my true calling. Fast forward to today, and I can genuinely say I'm in my element. While design remains my primary focus, I'm also delving into the world of marketing at the moment. I'm on the lookout for exciting work and career opportunities, all in an effort to expand my skill set and unlock more design possibilities!
Currently, I'm part of the marketing team at Red Gum BBQ, a fantastic local restaurant right here on the Peninsula. They're known for their mouthwatering Southern-style American BBQ, so no need to book a flight to the U.S. for those smoky ribs and creamy mac and cheese; it's all right here. (See what I did there? Got you thinking about American BBQ? Marketing wiz, I tell ya!)
I'm guessing you've had a peek at my portfolio—did you come across Allyup? It's my little passion project i’m currently working on. It's where I explore the exciting world of UX/UI design, crafting digital experiences that are not just user-friendly but also have a heart. You know, making technology feel a tad more human, even though the whole 'robots with emotions will end the world' thing might keep some folks up at night.
Beyond work, I'm all about enjoying life's simple pleasures. I share my days with three incredible furry companions (two dogs and one fiance), find solace in the pages of a good book with a steaming cup of tea, and channel my inner artist when the sun's out.
My design philosophy is centred on people, creativity, sustainability, and crafting meaningful experiences. So, whether you're up for a creative collaboration, have a project in mind, or just want to chat about dogs, books, or the latest TV series, don't hesitate to reach out!
